Random thoughts: my obsession with some opening and closing songs

On Tuesday morning, at the office, I made a playlist with opening and closing songs from several dramas that I like, among which I included the one from Joy of Life because for the last few days I have been listening to both the closing and opening songs on repeat.

And, although listening to one or two songs on loop for days and days works for me, I was craving a little more variety.

My list includes songs in Mandarin (JoL, NiF, CQL), Japanese (Old Fashion Cupcake, Cherry Magic, Dungeon Meshi) and Thai (Moonlight Chicken, A Tale of Thousand Stars).

I need to include songs in Korean, but I haven't watched Korean dramas recently and the truth is I didn't really pay much attention to the songs in the dramas I've watched, either BL or not-BL, which leads me to think that either they don't pay much attention to that, or the songs they used in the dramas I've seen were simply not sufficiently effective so as not to leave me hyperfixated for days like, for example, Blue blur did when I watched Old Fashion Cupcake or now the ones from Joy of Life. I'm gonna have to revisit some of the dramas I liked and see which of my two assumptions is correct.

Oh yes, I know the feeling. I have a playlist named "emoting in chinese" in which I have either title songs or entire OSTs from different dramas.

The JoL song is lovely! I looped it so much, and still find myself looping it.

I really really like the song itself but I also enjoy listening to songs in different languages and familiarizing with the sounds of each one and how they work with the music.

The only Korean OST I've really clicked with is from an older one, Queen In Hyun's Man. It's my brain's default whenever I watch Kdrama now. It hears Korean, it earworms this :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMesE34VXxE

I think I need to watch a bit more kdramas and see if the music of any of them makes me want to play it on loop like the ones in my playlist (I can listen to them for days and days, not even the whole playlist, but only one song... my brain likes repetition sometimes)

Why not ask the K-fans for some OST suggestions? K-pop stans will inundate you, though someone like glitch will put effort into being more selective for you.

Given k-pop, I'd expect more memorable k-OST but that doesn't seem to be the case. Given how much you already want to see, read and do, a more efficient approach than watching to find loopable OST seems wise :)

I can link you to my favourite Thai OSTs if you like. They might not work as well as C-OST for many repetitions of listening though.

The James Jirayu OST is firmly implanted in my head again and it's the best for lifting my mood. I'd gotten out of my daily listening habit what with watching an entire Japanese film festival in under two weeks, so thank you for prompting me to restart that :)
